This is a section of the velodrome track from Hamar, Norway on which Graeme Obree ( Link

) smashed the world one hour record. An amazing feat for an unknown amateur, especially since it was his second attempt at the torturous record within 24 hours.

The velodrome track was removed as Hamar is a multi-sports facility and the cycling track was always intended to be temporary. This section of track was saved and presented to Obree in recognition of the world records that he set there (one hour (51.596 km) and two times 4000 metres individual pursuit (4:22.668 and 4:20.894 on consecutive days in 1993)).
