TQ3680 : Former ship repairers, Rotherhithe Street

taken 7 years ago, near to Stepney, Tower Hamlets, Great Britain

Former ship repairers, Rotherhithe Street.
Former ship repairers, Rotherhithe Street.
The dock closed in 1968 and is now part of the Hilton Docklands Hotel. On the other side is a slipway with gates to keep the Thames out (a cross between a slipway and a conventional flat bottomed dry dock). The buildings house an amazing hydraulic haulage engine that pulled ships out of the water. The light was problematic in the late afternoon/early evening.
