Young birch trees, Warton Main Quarry
Young birch trees, Warton Main Quarry
The young trees catch the evening light below the dark quarry wall. Since work ceased here the trees are gradually softening the stark scene. The quarry is a popular resort for bird watchers and dog walkers but not so much for climbers (the rock faces are extremely loose in many places). Whatever floats your boat, it's an impressive place and easily visited as you can drive right in.
