Balmoral Castle
Balmoral Castle
Balmoral Castle on a very wet April day. The building is made of local granite and was completed in 1856. It was built for Queen Victoria and her consort Prince Albert. Since then it has remained the personal property of each succeeding monarch, and is not part of the Crown Estate. The grounds are open to the public usually between April and July, before the Queen moves in for her summer retreat.
