This scene would be quite recognisable today by the architecture - however almost every shop has changed management since 1988 when this picture was taken. Even the quadrant centre has taken on a new logo.

One interesting observation is the number of television rental shops on one street alone. The entire white goods and electrical rental industry has since shrunk and moved over to internet point of sales rather than the street shop. Rumbelows, Radio Rentals and DER are no longer familiar names on today's streets.
