Still visible after nearly 70 years, 'Gas Cleansing Centre' can just be discerned on the north side of this structure.

The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) Canmore website entry states: 'Although the Geneva Gas Protocol of 1925 outlawed the use of gas in warfare, many military sites of Second World War date [sic] had gas decontamination centres in case this agreement was broken. Situated to the east of the airstrip the gas decontamination centre [sic] is now largely roofless, but some articles of machinery remain within it. The building would originally have contained an undressing-room, showers and bleaching areas, and would have been linked via an air-lock to a sick quarter.'

The interior of the structure has become overgrown with Brambles, Nettles and small trees due to the roof caving in at several locations, but can be explored with great care in winter. It is only a matter of time before even more of the structure collapses.
