East Lancashire Road "Halfords Junction"
The Halfords store has stood at the junction of the A580 (East Lancashire Road) and A572 (Worsley Road) for as long as I can remember and is something of a landmark on the route into Manchester via the East Lancs Road.
The East Lancashire Road (A580)
The A580 (officially the Liverpool-East Lancashire Road) links Walton in Liverpool to Salford. It was the United Kingdom's first purpose-built intercity highway (Archive LinkHistoric Highways (archived)) being officially opened by King George V on 18 July 1934. The road is known colloquially as the "East Lancs Road".
