Sainsbury Centre for the Visual Arts
Sir Robert (1906 -2000) and Lady Lisa Sainsbury (1912- ) donated their collection of world art to the University of East Anglia in 1973 and the Sainsbury Centre first opened its doors to visitors in 1978. The building was Norman Foster’s first major public building. The centre regularly holds exhibitions as well as its permanent displays.

The University of East Anglia was founded in 1963 and is an internationally famous campus University. About 15,000 students attend the University. Departments are split between four Faculties, Arts & Humanities, Science, Social Science and Health. The campus includes numerous teaching buildings, halls of residence, a comprehensive sports centre, The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and a broad as well as woodland and grassland areas.
