Foot crossing over East Coast Main Line
Foot crossing over East Coast Main Line
This foot crossing, just south of the level crossing at Station Lane, is used by a footpath from Offord Cluny village to reach the River Great Ouse. It crosses four tracks - two fast and two slow. When the light turns red, a high speed train can go over the crossing just 20 seconds later. In contrast, the barriers on Station Lane can stay down for two minutes beforehand, and will stay down in between trains, whilst the foot crossing light will go green in the interim.
