See J3374 : Donegall Place, Belfast (21). The “Streets Ahead” scheme is now complete. Donegall Place now has fancy paving and street lights, new trees, seats and Sunday strollers. This photograph was taken just before noon and brought back memories of Sundays during the mid-70’s when I was almost the only pedestrian in central Belfast, as I made my solitary way to York Road station J3475 : York Road station, Belfast. The “Streets Ahead” scheme started in early 2008 J3374 : Arthur Street, Belfast.
The "Streets Ahead" project, Belfast
A scheme described officially thus: “The Belfast: Streets Ahead project will improve the parts of Belfast City Centre the public have access to. This includes streets and squares as well as things like furniture, lighting, signs and landscaping. It can also include public art and sculpture. Work on the first phase of the project commenced in June 2007 and aims to be completed in Spring 2011.”
