Bridge over dismantled railway
Bridge over dismantled railway
This dismantled railway joined the Princes Risborough to Bicester line with the branch line running from Aylesbury through Quainton. From the junction in this grid square, the line ran through Wotton Underwood, past Westcott where it crossed the A41 and on to Quainton.

The line was closed on Saturday 4th September 1966, as part of the general closure of the Great Central Railway south of Rugby on the same day. However north of here at Akeman Street station on the A41 the line remained until around 2010 before being converted into a road; closer to here, a section into the Rocket Propulsion Laboratory at Westcott (now Westcott Venture Park) remained open during the 1970s only.
