Station House and Railway Cottage, Pontrilas
A family-run business offers bed & breakfast accommodation in Station House on the left, or self-catering accommodation in Railway Cottage on the right. The former Pontrilas station buildings are alongside the Welsh Marches railway line. The station, built by the Newport, Abergavenny & Hereford Railway, opened in December 1853. Passenger services to Pontrilas ended in June 1958, though freight traffic continued to use the station until closure in October 1964. The station premises were then converted for residential use. After a serious fire in 1980, the premises were derelict for a decade. The present owners began rebuilding in 1990.
