The Heath Church
This church, a daughter church of St Marys Reigate (see TQ2550 : St Mary's Church, Reigate), was built in 1907, and therefore celebrated its centenary in 2007. It is a well preserved example of an "iron church" (or colloquially "tin tabernacle") which
were produced in large numbers from 1870 onwards, into the early 20th Century. They were built with a timber frame, clad with galvanised and corrugated iron, and lined with tongue and groove boarding. Prepared as prefabricated kits, they were also exported to many countries overseas.
