John St Barbe memorial - Romsey Abbey
This fine memorial to John St Barbe, his wife Grissell, and their four children is in the Chapel of St Nicholas in the south transept. The husband and wife who were the owners of Broadlands died within hours of each other in 1658 of 'a sweating sickness'. By the time the memorial was commissioned not long after their deaths, the children too were also deceased.
