Derelict Coal Bunkers, East Mines, Rosedale Abbey
With the completion of the Rosedale railway, it was now possible to bring in high quality coal from the Durham coalfield. This enabled improvements in the efficiency of the ore calcining process and also to provide coal for domestic purposes for the rapidly increasing population of the dale. This bunker was primarily for the latter purpose.
