TF9947 : Shipwreck, Blakeney Point

taken 7 years ago, 4 km from Morston, Norfolk, Great Britain

Shipwreck, Blakeney Point
Shipwreck, Blakeney Point
This rather sparse shipwreck is near the warning beacon (TF9947 : 'Hjordis' Lighted Beacon, Blakeney NNR) . It looks like the beacon was installed in 2008 to replace a buoy ( LinkExternal link ), and marks the wreck of the SS Hjordis, which ran aground on 16 February 1916 - LinkExternal link.

Grid reference of ship wreck: TF 99425 47016.

There is also a suggestion of another wreck here TF9847 : Blakeney Wreck Buoy, but I think this could be in the wrong position - even though it was taken in 2006.
