taken 7 years ago, near to Castleton, Derbyshire, Great Britain

A625 Abandoned Road
A625 Abandoned Road
The A625 Manchester to Sheffield Road previously followed this route over the lower slopes of Mam Tor. The side of the hill is constantly sliding especially after heavy rain resulting in severe cracking of the road surface, after years of major road works it was decided to abandon it, the “Shivering Mountain” was triumphant. In the distance Castleton and the Hope Cement Works can be seen.
