Footbridge 5 and ford 7
Footbridge 5 and ford 7
The track down the East Water below Cloutsham crosses the river in a series of seven fords. When I first walked this path, walkers had to cross the fords as best they could. More recently, the fords have been by-passed by footbridges constructed by the National Trust - but there are two fewer footbridges than there are fords, as the footpath stays on the opposite side of the river to the track between two of the fords. Footbridge 5 crosses the stream from west to east (going downstream).
