Inside the railings is an explanatory plaque and an English Heritage notice. The latter has battle scars of its own because someone has fired a shotgun at it. The slate inset also bears a text but it has become partly delaminated from the body of the monument. the whole is Grade II* listed, English Heritage Building ID: 399236. See:Link
