Hermiston, Weir and Glenalmond Courts at Sighthill
All that is left of the three 1960s multistorey blocks at Sighthill, looking east from Sighthill Wynd, after demolition - see NT1970 : Hermiston, Weir and Glenalmond Courts at Sighthill for the view before.
Sighthill Tower Blocks
Three multistorey 1960s tower blocks, by the Calder Road in Edinburgh, unoccupied for sometime, and demolished in September 2011. A series of photos from before and after the event. A large crowd gathered to watch the event on a sunny Sunday morning. The only downside was the wind, blowing from the demolition area towards the crowd, who were enveloped in a thick cloud of dust and fine debris. The 285 flats will be replaced by 320 new homes, for sale and rent, and half will be affordable [not sure about the other half?]
