Ingleton Granite Quarry below Ingleborough
The geology of Chapel-le-Dale is visible here. The quarry (not granite!) is cut into the older slatey base layer below the Carboniferous limestone layers of Raven Scar. The upper slopes of Ingleborough are alternating layers of sandstone, shale and limestone with a final cap of millstone grit on the summit.
