SE4811 : Eastern face, former South Elmsall Quarry

near to North Elmsall, Wakefield, Great Britain

Eastern face, former South Elmsall Quarry
Eastern face, former South Elmsall Quarry
The finest example in Yorkshire of a 255 million year old Permian patch reef. With bryozoan and stromatolic strata, the latter characterised by hummocky layering. An SSSI, with a very helpful information panel. Shame about the graffiti.
