SU5083 : Track of Old Railway
3 km from East Ilsley, West Berkshire, Great Britain

Track of Old Railway
Part of the route of the Didcot to Newbury line. This section is now a farm track and is in much better condition than the adjacent public bridleway, so I think it's the route of choice for most walkers and riders.
But it's not a very long section, running only about 1.5 km from the bridge (SE) to the cutting (NW). The trackbed as a whole hasn't become a useful trans-Downs link as you might have thought. Much of it is grown over and impassable. A wasted opportunity for a nice cycle way through the hills.
