St Abb's Head
St Abb's Head
This shows the lighthouse, opened in 1862, and the foghorn with associated lighthouse buildings on the left. The foghorn became operational in 1876 and was discontinued in 1987. A Principal Lightkeeper and two Assistants and their families lived at St Abb’s Head until the light was automated in 1993. The buildings are within the National Trust for Scotland St Abb’s Head Wildlife Reserve.
