TQ3081 : Imperial Hotel, Russell Square
near to London, City of London, Great Britain

Imperial Hotel, Russell Square
One of two adjacent 1960s hotels with sawtooth fronts (TQ3082 : President Hotel, Russell Square), presumably to maximise the light coming into rooms. Pevsner thought that each was, "a tawdry affair ... unworthy of [its] position". To me this building conjures up the Soviet Union - something to do with its sheer size, style and the lettering.
