SK6430 : Glacial deposit

taken 7 years ago, near to Stanton-on-The-Wolds, Nottinghamshire, Great Britain

Glacial deposit
Glacial deposit
Although I was aware that the rolling wolds of the district are largely glacial deposit, I was surprised by the size of the stones being turned up. The large one here is about 20cm in diameter, as can be seen when compared with the tractor tyre marks. Presumably the fact that they are rounded means that the effects on machinery are not too problematical.
