Harlow Carr's chickens and medlar tree
There is a chicken run in Harlow Carr Gardens, surrounding a medlar tree. There are 4 chickens in the run and a notice tells us about "Our Hens".
"The friendly docile and productive brown hen is called Tulip.
Hyacinth is the dark brown 'Nero' hen who lays over 300 brown eggs a year
The slightly chunkier grey hen is a 'Blue Star' and goes by the name of Gertrude
Our 'Old Sussex Star' is white in colour and is called Snowdrop"
They are very inquisitive - see SE2754 : Snowdrop, the Old Sussex Star, at Harlow Carr
