Whitenothe Cottages
These ex-coastguard cottages are on top of the Whitenothe headland, and at around 150 metres above sea level they are the highest dwellings on the Dorset coastline. They face southwest towards the Isle of Portland and the prevailing winds, and are partially sunken behind a brick wall. The tip of the headland in front of the cottages is accessed across this natural (?) causeway seen in the centre of the foreground. The "ditch" running from left to right is presumably a natural feature created during landslips.
