This fine monument by Chantrey was erected by Jane Hornby the widow of John Hornby Esq., a former Governor of Bombay who died in 1832. The inscription also records the deaths of their 19 year old daughter Harriot also in 1832, and of Nathaniel their son, who died at Tannah near Bombay in 1835.
