West corner, Central Library, Surrey Street
The Grade II listed Central Library and Municipal Art Gallery date from 1934. They were designed in classical style by W G Davies, the Sheffield City Architect. The building is steel-framed with Portland stone cladding. The canted corner to Tudor Square has a balcony at first floor level, above in the parapet is a large carved relief sculpture.
