Damems Junction Signal Box and Passing Loop, K&WV Railway
Damems Junction Signal Box and Passing Loop, K&WV Railway
The Signal Box controlling the passing loop on the Keithly and Worth Valley Railway, just south of Damems station. The box was formerly at Frizzinghall and was moved here in the early 1970s when the passing loop was built. The name follows the Midland Railway practice of using the term 'junction' even when the box only controlled a few points! Note the typical Midland Railway roof finials, the triangular fillets in the top corners of the upper windows and the stairway off-set from the door - so if the signalman trips on the threshold he doesn't fall down the stairs.
