Mappleton sands (south) and riprap
Mappleton sands (south) and riprap
Looking down the track behind the riprap, from the end of Cliff Road. The riprap is a structure of graded boulders, probably designed to protect the cliff to the south of the southern groyne. Note how the clay of the cliffs to the south has much more erosion and slippage and less vegetation than the cliffs to the north where groynes reduce the erosion.
