The Dunbar Lifeboat in Victoria Harbour
A TV camera man films the Dunbar lifeboat in the harbour as a British Divers Marine Life Rescue team prepares to board the lifeboat and be taken 1½ miles off shore to try and free a 40 foot long humpback whale that had become entangled in a lobster pot line. The whale was entangled in prawn fishing gear off St Abbs the day before and the fishing boat crew cut their nets to free the animal. A BBC and STV camera crew were covering the story although the STV crew trumped the BBC by chartering a boat to get pictures out at sea where the action was taking place. After a difficult rescue operation, and just before darkness fell, the whale was eventually freed. For details of the rescue see these RNLI and BDMLR links: Link
