The arch of the Etherow viaduct which allows the road to pass under the Manchester to Glossop railway line. To the right of the picture the viaduct, which opened in 1842, goes on to cross the River Etherow 120 feet above the bottom of the valley (SJ9993 : Etherow Viaduct).
