SD9499 : Spoil heaps, Sir Francis Mine

near to Ivelet, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

Spoil heaps, Sir Francis Mine
Spoil heaps, Sir Francis Mine
The Sir Francis Lead Mine was operated by 2 companies.
The stonework in the foreground is probably the remains of a bridge pier which supported a tramway to the Old Gang dressing floor about 400m downstream (to the left).
The spoil heaps across the gill are from the AD dressing floor, and have been eroded by the beck.
