The Waterworks Museum, Hereford - steam engine
In addition to the 1895 built inverted vertical triple expansion steam pumping engine, the former Broomy Hill Pumping Station houses this 1906 built inverted vertical duplex rotative pump by Worth Mackenzie & Co Ltd of Stockton-on-Tees. The slide valve cylinders are 14" x 12" and it developed 40 horsepower. It is believed to have stopped in the 1930s and was on standby until 1951. It is now back in steam and demonstrated regularly. There is no other engine quite like it in a UK waterworks.
