Chapel Lane, adjacent to the graveyard of Blackshaw Head Methodist Church
When this photo was taken in August 2005 this lane had had no repairs for 26 years. in 1905/6 an existing lane running closer to the chapel had been diverted by magistrates and the graveyard extended. Chapel Lane had been repaired by various highway authorities over the years, but in 1981 West Yorkshire County Council discovered that it wasn't included on their 'list of streets' maintainable at public expense, and so declined to carry out further repairs.

In late 2011 research by Blackshaw Parish Council uncovered evidence of the formal diversion of the road, showing that Calderdale Council (now the highway authority) is responsible for maintenance. As a result the road was resurfaced in January 2012.
