A swan near Sandy
A swan near Sandy
At first I thought my shadow in this picture had spoilt the image, but on reflection the shadow of someone obviously taking a picture of the bird and it's comical "you must take my best side" pose add an element of humour.

The building in the distance is The Sandpiper, who serve an excellent meal.

This picture also illustrates how fearless and used to human proximity these birds are - the camera was in minimum zoom and I was about 1.5m away from the Swan. It was neither perplexed nor bothered, though I suspect a bit annoyed that my camera wasn't a tasty morsel of bread - something many people (wrongly) bring to feed the ducks, geese and swans here. (don't feed swans bread - it can swell in their crops and kill them).
