A large residence constructed in 1696-7 by James Chadwick (son-in-law of John Tillotson, the Archbishop of Canterbury) for his widowed mother-in-law, Elizabeth Tillotson. The port cochere you see on the front of the mansion was added by Charles Welstead in 1808. Looking south-southeast from the path leading out towards the pond.
