North portal of Coseley Tunnel
The tunnel was built by Thomas Telford and opened in 1837 to provide a more direct route between Wolverhampton and Birmingham. The tunnel is 330m long and like the similar Netherton Tunnel has towpaths on both sides. The wingwall is in a sad and sorry state.
