Ownership of the "Backs" at Cambridge - on the west bank of the River Cam - is divided between a number of the colleges on the east bank. In the case of St John's College and Queens' College, college buildings have been extended into this area. This backwater forms the boundary between St John's College (to the right) and Trinity College.
