The viewpoint outside the Town Hall offers sight of the bridge carrying the main Paddington to the south-west of England railway over the High Street. The highway entering at the left is Church Street. The illuminations are ostensibly there to celebrate the Christian festival of Christmas but, in reality, have more to do with much older Pagan year-end rituals.
