Boothferry Park - Imperfect Pitch
This was the last day that Hull City supporters were allowed to go into the former Boothferry Park football ground before the land is redeveloped. It's nine years since 'City' played here and the pitch is now covered in huge mounds of rubble and soil. The quality pitch was noted as being one of the best in the business and the grass was grown at nearby Cottingham where the turf is noted for its excellence throughout the country. As we stood on what remains of the South Stand a clever 'so-and-so' shouted to the photographers standing on the mounds of earth facing the crowd - "Get off the pitch!" The shadows of the heads of the supporters can be seen cast onto the ground below.
