York: Fishergate Bar
York: Fishergate Bar
One of the gates in the city walls, originally controlling access to the city centre. This one is closed to motor traffic nowadays but is in use as a cycle route, complete with traffic signals just out of shot to the left - see SE6051 : York: traffic lights for cyclists at Fishergate Bar.

For a close-up of the coat of arms and inscription, see SE6051 : York: detail of Fishergate Bar inscription.
