A close-up of the stone above the main arch of SE6051 : York: Fishergate Bar, containing the city's coat of arms above the inscription: ‘A.doi m.cccc.lxxx.vii Sr Willm Tod knight mayre this wal was mayd in his days lx yadys’. Roughly translated, Sir William Tod[d], mayor of York, built 60 yards of the walls, including the Bar itself, in 1487.
