NN3233 : The old road to Lochaber

taken 19 years ago, 3 km from Clifton, Stirling, Great Britain

The old road to Lochaber.
The old road to Lochaber.
Looking North. Replaced by the modern A82 in the 1930s this is the old road to Glencoe and Fort William from Glasgow. Now it is again quite busy, as it carries the popular West Highland Way long distance path. The big landmark here of course is Beinn Dorain, snowcapped here, seen as the road descends from the curiously unnamed march pass between Perthshire's Tyndrum and Argyll's Bridge of Orchy
