An early JCB 1
Along with all the newest and latest technologies seen at the Site Equipment Demonstration a display of older machines were being shown as part of the Lighthouse Club stand. The Lighthouse Club is a benevolent fund raising charity run by the construction industry to support people who have fallen on hard times or have been disabled through working in this particularly dangerous industry LinkExternal link
The JCB model 1 is a small excavator introduced in 1963, it has a two cylinder Petter engine. This sort of machine would have been used for grave digging in municipal cemeteries and small works.
