Removal of the Piece Hall gates
Removal of the Piece Hall gates, taken 5 years ago
When Halifax Corporation turned the Piece hall into a municipal market hall in the 1870s a new larger gateway was added, with ornate cast iron gates. The gates were being temporarily removed in order for restoration work to be carried out. A roller shutter had been installed to keep the building secure. See SE0925 : Removal of the Piece Hall gates for the inside of the gateway.
