Former crossing of railways
The line just on the low embankment is the former Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway line from Wakefield to Goole opened in 1848 and still in use. The line on the high embankment (marked by the line of trees) is the former Hull and Barnsley Railway main line opened in 1885 and closed in 1969, passenger services having ceased in 1931.
