Football pitch near Jackson's Boat, Sale

The pub itself is at the end of Rifle Road, near the footbridge over the Mersey. Back in the 1980s, when the Metrolink extension to Manchester Airport was first proposed, the then owners Tetley Pub Co. proposed knocking down Jackson's Boat and building a larger family friendly pub on the football pitch. Thankfully this proposal was rejected. Over 20 years later the tram line is now under construction; this will cross the Mersey just south east of the pub.
